Artist's Statement

I began my creative work as a painter but swiftly moved towards ceramics. In recent years I have fallen for the seductive qualities of glass and have been intrigued and absorbed by the many ways of working with it.

Pâte de verre is my preferred method of working. It utilizes previously developed skills. The process lends itself to an incremental approach.

It allows for the gradual development of ideas within a piece of work and for them to evolve; each building upon the last and exploring new elements or avenues. Every one is an experiment- testing the potential, and pushing the boundaries of 'Pâte de verre' as a creative process.

My current work focuses upon the opaque and textural qualities of recycled glass, exploring the enormous potential it has as a medium for realising abstract, figurative, and vessel forms.
