I am interested in a child’s ability to see a whole universe in something very small. It is this sense of wonder and the unexpected, that I wish to convey. The interior spaces of my work suggest a microscopic world. This hidden aspect of nature is my strongest influence, things that are alien and also familiar, compelling, yet repulsive.
I am drawn to the translucent properties of glass, rather than transparency. This allows me to create subtle illumination and a magical quality, within.
My work is intended to be vibrant and playful in its use of material. This is underpinned by traditional skills and experience, gained from 10 years working as a glassmaker.
