Artist’s statement regarding the artwork
The Elegy Series is a development from a piece made for the Contemporary Glass Society fundraiser at the International Festival of Glass 2015. The pieces explore the variety which can be achieved by making just small changes – both in pattern and colour. Rather than the casting crystal I would normally use, these are created with sheet glass. Each panel is made with just three colours (the whole series uses only four). The sheets are first fused together – and this fused block is then carefully cast in a mould.

The company which made the glass used in this piece (Spectrum 96) has now unfortunately closed – hence the title of the series.
